| It gives me great pleasure to welcome
the College of Bishops of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church,
members of the Board of Trustees of Phillips School of Theology,
Presiding Elders, Pastors, and Ministers from across the Connection to
Atlanta for the 12th Pastors' Conference of the CME Church and the 64th
Founders' Celebration of Phillips School of Theology at ITC. In
addition I am pleased that you have come so that we can worship, learn
study and fellowship together. We
gather in Atlanta under the theme: "The Jesus Challenge: Relevant
- Authentic Preaching that Priestly, Pastoral, and Prophetic" (Luke
4:18-19). A team of outstanding presenters have been
selected to provide insight into our theme and its implications for the
preaching ministry. I am excited about each presenter and look
forward to their presentation during the conference.
It is always good for the CME Church to
come to Atlanta each year. It is good for the students of Phillips
School of Theology because it provides for them the opportunity to see
and interact with leaders from across the Connection. It is good
for the Church because it is a sign of the strong support the CME Church
has for her seminary, Phillips School of Theology at the ITC.
Thank you for your presence,
participation, and support of these annual events. It is my hope
and prayer that your time here will be both inspiring and challenging.
With best wishes, am.
